Sheet steel foor three frigates

December 2011 – Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding (DSNS) from Vlissingen recently handed over the Tarik ben Ziyad to the Royal Moroccan Navy. This ship is built with sheet steel in Grade D and DH36 and bulb flats in DH36 supplied by De Boer Staal.

Europort 2011 succesful for De Boer Staal

November 2011 – This year for the first time, De Boer Staal, De Boer Buizen and De Boer Snijbedrijf attended Europort 2011. Many interested potential clients and relations came to visit the stand. While enjoying a drink and a snack new contacts were established and existing contacts were renewed. The companies look back on a succesful event.

Sheet steel for ship's crane

August 2011 – A ship-board crane is the most important part of a cargo vessel, used to hoist heavy and out-sized loads. This vessel that is used to transport heavy machine parts around the world cannot do its job without the crane. De Boer Staal supplied ten tons of DH36 sheet steel to carry out repairs to the crane. De Boer Snijbedrijf cut the sheet steel to size.

Steel flanges for Doppler log

July 2011 – A Doppler log is often used to measure the speed of ships: it is a device that measures the ship’s speed in relation to the river/sea bed and/or the water. The Doppler log is mounted in steel flanges that are welded to the bottom of the forward bulwark so that the device is protected and servicing can be carried out without the vessel needing to be in dry dock. De Boer Staal supplied 60 mm grade D steel plate for these flanges. De Boer Snijbedrijf then cut the flanges to size.

Cares about stocks of steel plates with SigmaWeld taken care of

April 2011 – In order to provide customers with optimum service, De Boer Staal also has plates treated with SigmaWeld 190 in stock in thicknesses of 8 mm to 40 mm, widths of 2.5 and 3 metres and lengths of 8, 10 and 12 metres. These Grade A quality plates are used mainly in shipbuilding and are blasted first and then treated with the SigmaWeld 190 paint that colours them red.

Sheet steel for widening barges

February 2011 – Barges with no engines or cabin and flat decks are used for transportation. They are pushed or pulled by tugs in inland shipping. To widen a barge from 7.2 to 11.4 m, De Boer Staal delivered sheet steel and profiles that will allow the barge to transport wider cargoes.

December 2010 – De Boer Staal specialises in trading and treating sheet steel, half rounds, profiles and bulb flats. Good partnerships with suppliers and clients are extremely important. Steel and cutting work for a rush job

November 2010 – In the aftermath of a collision in the North Sea between a container vessel and a tanker, the tanker was severely damaged and had to be repaired immediately. De Boer Staal supplied 20 mm EH36 shipbuilding sheet steel for this rush job. For the repair to the bow of the tanker, De Boer Snijbedrijf cut the steel to size (including the fusion edges) and certified in accordance with 3.2 Lloyds Register.

Opening of 3,000 m2 storage facility extension

October 2010 – The 3,000 m2 extension to the covered storage facility at De Boer Staal was officially opened on Friday, 8 October. During a spectacular opening act, the 'Iron Man' switched on a laser show to reveal the new logos of De Boer Staal, De Boer Buizen, and De Boer Snijbedrijf.

On patrol on the open sea

August 2010 – De Boer Staal’s part in the construction of four patrol vessels for the Royal Netherlands Navy was to supply Grade D and DH36 sheet steel, and DH36 Holland sections. These patrol vessels are deployed for the coastguard and maritime safety work within Dutch territorial waters. Each vessel is 108 metres long, 16 metres wide and can accommodate a crew of fifty. In addition, there is space for 40 passengers such as a medical team, and capacity for up to 100 people in need of assistance.
